Women's Rights in Africa

Reflection
I feel that all global issues impact everyone in some way because it is the problem is happening globally which means that either it is effecting your area or you hear of it on the radio or you see it happen around you. Women's rights are not just happening in Africa so they are effecting everyone in some way. Every global issue means that whatever is happening doesn't mean in one place it means all over the world and I personally think and feel that everyone is involved one way or another.
Global change is always going to be an issue, because not everyone is going to agree with changes that need to be made whether they are the right decisions or the wrong ones. Each individual has an opinion and they are entitled to it, but there are ways that everyone can help make a positive change whether it be for women's rights which is raising awareness to help these poor women in need of our help or donating to a good cause we all can be capable of making a positive change no matter where in the world.
Small actions are what make a big change. It could be giving some change to help someone trying to gain women's rights or to try and cure something and that can make all of a difference. In Africa there are so many women in need of someone to stand up for them and to show people what is supposed to be happening because that in itself is a small action. It also shows people that you are caring towards what is right and that you don't have to spend money to make a change.
I think that global and local issues require a plan to solve the problem and everything that you need to accomplish in order for this issue to be fixed. When we talk about women's rights then there approach was to travel and talk to people about what is happening and for them to spread the word that the issue was happening. So problem solving would be a good idea if you are dealing with a large global issue because it is obviously happening to more then one place and it would require more planning. For a local issue I think that you could just see how it goes and make up a plan as you go to really see how people will react to the issue and if they are willing to make a change.
I feel that balancing the environment is a big job considering all the people that we have not taking care of it and not caring to take care of it. Then there is the problem of feeding and keeping the products updated for people to eat. It is a big issue in Africa because there are so many people living there and the women are said to be the caretakers and feed their families. I think that a solution for balancing both factors would be to plant gardens which is good for the environment and gives you healthy foods. It also helps women discrimination because they can have fresh food in their backyards to hep feed their families.
I think that we all should be responsible in a way to finding a solution to women's rights and for helping to raise awareness. I also think that it is partially the governments fault because they are the ones that is causing this issue in Africa to still be happening. So I feel that if the government in Africa outs an end or at least shows some respect to the women then we can all make a solution to this issue by setting equal rights everywhere in the world no matter what gender you may be.
I feel that things have changed for the better in the last decade because women's rights used to be a lot worse not only in Africa, but in a lot of other places and I think that we have come a long way from where we began. Women still might be struggling to get an equal say and have equal pay but they are in a good place where they have some of a say then they used to.
I hope you all learned something about how important it is to treat everyone with the same respect no matter who they are. Women have worked really hard to earn their place in this world and we should all except them and live in a world where everyone is welcome.

Overall Purpose of How Women's Rights are Important
Women's Rights has been an issue for many many years and will not be fixed immediately no matter what we do, but we can for sure say that if we out effort and care about what our world is doing and how we are treating each other not just in Africa then we can make life a whole lot better for some people. In my previous blog posts I have mentioned the Rainbo Organisation which has travelled to Africa to help make a difference and speak out about the issues that are happening.
I feel that we should all be responsible for solving this issue because it has been ongoing and we are all apart of it in some way. Violations of Women's Rights is not only happening in Africa but all over the world it just might not be as bad. Although the government is a big part of why this is happening is Africa we can all raise our voices and spread the word that this is an issue that needs to be solved.
Overall I want to send a message to all of you that if you take a stand for something that you believe is right which we should all be taking a stand for the freedom and the right for women to express themselves in any way they please then anything can happen as long as you try. I truly believe that the only way to help solve this issue is to join an organization or just talk to people who have power over the community to really get your point across. Canada does have a say in what happens all over the world, even in Africa.
I feel that the purpose of this issue is that people feel that they can't have power unless everyone is treated differently and unfairly and that is not right and should not be happening. Being a global citizen in this world can be challenging because of all the different issues and opinions that we have to face but in the end we are all in this world together and we can make a difference if we just take a stand and speak up.

Who is Helping Solve This Issue and Who is Contributing to Continuate
Many organisations and people who not only live in Africa but others who see what is happening are contributing to solve this issue. There has been protesters and huge crowds that have tryed to stand up for what is clearly right and what is happening. There is also different organisations that are travelling around the world such as The Rainbo Organisation which helps bring awareness to all global citizens. I think that as the years go on and our ways of treating different cultures and genders are starting to change. We are starting to realize that everyone should be treated the same and that both men and women are capable of doing anything they set their minds to. What I have noticed throughout the years is on the news there has been more attention on how women are treated so poorly. Hopefully from all the media attention and groups that are bringing caution to this issue will stop violating women's rights and start being equal.
We unfortunately have others who are not willing to make this issue come to an end and to make them right. African government are a huge part of the why this is an issue because they feel that women should be held back from opportunities and should be the housekeepers and look after their families. They feel that if women are given the power like men then the way they run their country will be changed and that is not the way they feel things should be run. It is very disappointing to see this happening and we start to wonder why and how they have so much power over these women. Hopefully we get those answers soon and we figure out a way to make things right.

Stakeholders and How We can Help
Typically in Africa if a family is poor and struggling with feeding their families it is blamed on the women because they are supposed to provide food, keep up housekeeping, and keep everyone healthy in their family, but it is actually the men's fault if the family is struggling because he is the one who is getting paid and is working. Unfortunately men are not always responsible with money and it known that men spend their daily earnings on themselves rather then their own families. So women are not getting the right and the opportunity to provide and responsibly keep their family under a well kept household.
Violating women and taking away their rights is giving them restrictions that only apply to a specific gender. If this problem in Africa does not come to an end soon then there is a lot at stake for women and their freedom to express themselves. For example if women are not getting the same job opportunities and not getting paid the same rate as men then they have to rely on men to provide for them and it is also giving men the power in a relationship which is setting a stereotype and can cause problems because men can think that they have more power over their wife's and that they are constantly in control.
We can help in this situation by having a voice and saying our opinions because they are truly taken for granted and if we speak up with what we feel is right then it might even make the slightest difference. Women do not deserve what is happening to them and we need to make a change. When you think about it we are really lucky to have equal men and women and they are treated the same.

Challenges of this issue and Canada's role in this issue
Women's rights have always been an issue and in some parts of the world it has come to a point where women are finally getting treated fairly. In Canada I feel that we treat men and women fairly to a certain point. For example men and women both get to participate in most sports. In Africa it is very different because they have not come to that agreement where both men and women get to do the same jobs, activities, and have the same pay rate. As a country that is trying to help other places around the world and who are wanting to be active citizens we need to do as much as we can to help prevent this issue of women discrimination from happening in our world.
Women in Africa are having trouble expressing their opinions and having a voice in how they are treated. Although women in Africa have more rights then they did in past years they are still having a terrible time trying to get the same respect as men do. Men are supposed to be known as the strong, smart, and handy guys who can do anything, but throughout the years that stereotype has completely changed and people are starting to realize that women are just as strong and smart and some are even more intelligent then men.
Jobs are a way for someone to express themselves and do what they love, but women are expected to be the house wife's and cook and clean. They don't get paid the same amount as men do because they feel that men are doing more hard labour where women slave over making a meal that has enough food to feed their families by planting gardens and reusing every last bit of left overs from the night before. It is completely unfair for different genders to be held to different standards.
Canada's role in all of this is to speak out and let others know that this issue is happening and find ways to make it stop because it is not right. We could have organisations form and make a difference in women's lives that could help make our world come to realize that what we are doing is wrong and we need to stop and think about what we are doing and how we are treating people. Everyone has a right to their human rights and everyone has an equal and fair place in what they believe in.

Women's Rights in Africa Post #1
Women's Rights has been a constant struggle for women across the world due to not being treated fairly and always being held to a lower standard then men. In Africa women are extremely discriminated and are needing help staying strong because people think that women should not have the right to have the same job opportunities and to not have the same pay rate.
There is an organization called The Rainbo Organization and they are bringing awareness to this issue that is happening. They have different groups going out to Africa that are helping women to have a voice and to regain their right to do everything that men can do. These rights are being violated due to violent behavior and an overpowering amount of strong powerful leaders that are controlling the community. We are trying to help these issues and try to help African women regain their voice and their right to life because everyone deserves human rights.
